A list of words
It’s amazing when the language thing starts to click, isn’t it? I’ve yet to find a baby book that I like and I’m terrible about writing things down, so I’ve been trying to remember all of Dashiell’s little words. But he seems to be adding new ones every week and I’m having trouble remembering them already!

If you’ll indulge me for a moment, I’m going to record them here. At least the internet will know so when I finally get a baby book I can write them in it.
At about a year he had 4 words. I remember that.
Dada
Mama
‘nana (banana)
Yaya (our nanny Gloria)
Plus a few baby sign which he still uses: more, enough, hungry, tired and milk.
And now he has these too:
wawa (water)
wuh-wuh! (his word for dog, which is really like him saying, ruff ruff!)
baba (bottle)
ohm (home)
eye
at (hat)
gamma (grandma)
umpa (grandpa)
And he’ll basically repeat anything you try to teach him if he’s in the right mood. It’s so neat. Brock came back from running with him this morning and said that he’s trying to say “truck” (because obviously he’s obsessed with large trucks since he’s a boy). He says “uck”. But close enough! And he occasionally says “unda” for his BlaBla panda. (They have some really cute new stuff, btw.) It’s really pretty amazing how their little minds work.
We’re waiting for him to come up with a name for “froggy“, his most prized, precious possession. Maybe it’s like soooo important it doesn’t need an actual name.

This is such a sweet post :) And a gorgeous photo!
My two-year-old neice’s new word to learn is Lobster.. but she can only seem to say “Monster” or “Lumpster” :)
xoxo
I love that photograph! And all of this little words are sooo precious.
My dad (a retired colonel in the Army Reserves) was trying to get his fiance’s granddaughter, Maddie, to call him “colonel,” so she now calls him – “yurnal,” which sounds a lot like urinal. Ha! xo.
I meant “all of *his* little words” (obviously). xo.
so cute.
and not sure if you’ve seen this, but this is the baby book i’ll be buying for when we need one : http://lovelife.typepad.com/buy_lovelife/buy-hello-baby-book-here.html
Dash looks sooooo much like you in that photo
i love listening to the constant chatter of my twins. they’re learning more and more each day and repeating (or trying to repeat) everything I say.
Aww, makes me excited for what’s to come. And love those leg rolls by the way – preciousness!

awesome baby book. modern and adorable.
Oh the new words are such a joy! And makes life so much easier!
Couldn’t resist commenting because, well, my daughter tried to swat your son’s head the other day at the park. He had the *gall* of being near the particular circle in the “boat” where she wanted to enter and turf wars are tough at the park, yo. I got a kick out of what a small world it is when there is one blog I read regularly, get great inspiration out of , and we live near enough where we run into your kiddo at the neighborhood parks. You might wonder how I recognized him this time? He was wearing those way too cute Navaho print leggings of course! If I see you there with him sometime, I’ll say hello!
Just too cute! I love little baby words!!
And personally, I think your blog is the best place to record his words. That way we can all swoon over his adorable-ness!
we have a twitter account that just michael and i have access to – it’s been so fantastic for recording the explosion of language. today she said, ‘lake is a boy. malena is a girl. and malena’s a friend. roman is a friend.’ i mean, who is this person?? it’s so crazy!!

the thing that amazes me is when my daughter just comes out with something that opens the window for me to whats going on in her head. the other night we were having dinner and she pointed at me and said ‘Mama,’ and i smiled and said ‘yes.’ then she pointed to herself and said, ‘Sagey.’ i’d never heard her say her own name before…
when you get a chance i’d love to know what lens you are using here to get your background so deliciously dreamy. Dash couldnt be any cuter, btw. and he’s tack sharp in your pic so i can see every detail – i love it!
Ok, adorable post…and amazing photo!! Was that with your 50mm f1.4 lens?! I think it might be time for me to break down and get me one.
